5 Great Video Personalization Advertising Campaigns (You Have Never Heard Of)
In one of my last posts I wrote about the 7 best viral interactive advertising campaigns of all times. Of course there are many other great video ad campaigns that include personalization out there. Since not all of them received the attention they deserved, I created a list of my personal Top 5:
1) The Dexter Hit List
Client: Dexter TV Series
Agency: Ralph
Plot: Is someone bullying you? Put his name next on the Dexter Hit List.
I am not a huge Dexter fan but this video was sure fun to watch. What makes this campaign special (and puts it on 1st place) is the fact that even the creation of the video is part of the fun: The application lets you record your own voice (to ask a question during a press conference in the video) and enter many details about the target you are creating the video for (age, habits etc.). Of course all of the information you provide is later on used in the video. So, who is next on your list?
PS: Can’t get enough of Dexter? Play some “Where is Dexter?” you YouTube.
2) Lost in Val Sinestra
Client: Swisscom TV
Agency: Hinderling Volkart
Plot: Think of the scariest movie you have seen lately, starring: You and your friends.
This campaign was created to advertise SwisscomTVs’ new Video-On-Demand offering. The entire film has lots of Hollywood in it and gives you a 100% movie trailer feeling. The personalization scenes are integrated in a very smart and natural way that makes you want to share the video with your friends immediately. Two thumbs up. You can still get lost here.
PS: Notice the “process” to create a video: Sign in via FB connect, that’s it. Or do you like to fill out online forms and give away your email address for the millionth time?
3) MySpace Fanvideo
Client: MySpace Musik
Agency: BBH, Domani Studios
Plot: Find yourself in a video with popular artists like 50 cent or Alicia Keys.
This campaign was designed for the UK launch of Myspace Music but has not reached great popularity across the Atlantic (in the US that is). The Videos are small masterpieces and great to watch. As in the Lost in Val Sinestra campaign, we give extra credit for the super easy process to create a video: Sign up via FB connect and you are done (are you starting to see a pattern here too?). Let Alicia Keys sing you a love song or find out what 50 has to say about you here.
4) Audi Real Time Car Configurator (Interactive Video Configurator)
Client: Audi AG
Agency: DDD Design
Plot: Change the color, rims and other design features of the brand new Audio A5 convertible during a video test drive – in Real Time.
This campaign has a wow-effect attached to it because you don’t expect what’s happening in the video: The ad allows you to change the color of the new Audi A5 convertible (which of course drives through a beautiful landscape) while the movie is playing – without any interruption. Sweet, but still didn’t make me buy an Audi ;-) Unfortunately the ad is no longer online.
5) Playboy
Client: Playboy Germany
Agency: DDD Design
Plot: At home with 2 Playboy bunnies who turn out to be crazy about: You.
Ok guys, since this campaign is from Germany the bunnies speak German. But I guess you’ll get over it. There is nothing incredibly new here, but the effects speak for themselves (I might be biased here… ;-) You can still create the illusion of being with a bunny here, but have to pay 1.99 Euro if you want to download your video.
